Wheelchair Accessible Ramp
First Unitarian Church is wheelchair accessible on the first floor, which includes our Sanctuary and Parish Room. Wheelchair accessible seating is available in our Sanctuary and in the Parish Room during Summer Services.
A long-term temporary wheelchair ramp was installed in August 2023 at the Van Pelt Street entrance to our church, allowing for safer, easier access to the first floor. The ramp is years in the making and the result of persistent effort by many members of the First U community, especially John Lehman, Karin Tetlow, Phyllis Belk, Laura Tipson, Deborah Schultz, Marguerite McQuire, Keri Hanson, Liam Dougherty, Mahyar Entezari, Katherine Husemen, Nic Tenaglia, Norman Fouhy, Rev. Abbey and many others.
Hearing Loop
We are excited to announce that we installed an integrated hearing loop system in the Sanctuary in August 2023! This system provides a magnetic, wireless signal that is picked up by hearing aids and will help those with hearing impairment enjoy the services and music better.
