Worship at First Unitarian Church
The Sound of All of Us (Rev. Abbey Tennis)
This Sunday, September 25, 11 am, in person & on Zoom
There are so many things that get in the way of our feeling a deep sense of belonging, from physical barriers like stairs, to invisible barriers like racism, to soul barriers like discomfort with vulnerability. How can we remove the barricades that hold us, and others, back from the beloved community for which we yearn?

RE Registration
If you have a kid that will be attending religious education this year, please register them here! We have a nursery room for babies and toddlers and then a K-2 classroom and a 3-5th grade classroom. If you are in 7-9th grade, we'll be offering our sexual education curriculum OWL beginning in October. For that, you can register at this link.

Involvement Fair this Sunday 9/25
Curious about how to meet people? How to deepen spiritually? How to contribute to the community? Join us at the Involvement Fair after worship on Sunday, September 25th. We'll have tables set up for each committee or ministry team, and there you can sign up for small group ministry, to bake cookies or send cards, to organize for elections, and generally learn more about our programs!

It's Time to Register for Small Group Ministry!
The popular Small Group Ministry Program is all set to start up in October.  Congregants have found Small Group Ministry to be a great way to further explore one's spirituality and the UU faith while keeping in touch monthly with a group of 7-10 new and old friends. Click here for more information and to register. Participants will be notified of their assigned Small Group Ministry gathering the first week of October. Feel free to reach out to Small Group Ministry with questions or assistance in registering.

Sign up for Circle Suppers!
Circle suppers are a long tradition in Unitarian Universalist congregations consisting of 7-8 people who meet once a month during the church year, eat a meal together, talk about whatever is on their plate or on their mind, and get to know each other. This year we will have one zoom only meeting and in-person dinners. Sign up here.

Join the Network of Caring
The Caring Ministry helps our congregation connect with and support each other.  Are you available to assist others in the church? If so, please join the Caring Ministry's Network of Caring.  Help show one another love and support during the ups and downs of life. To get involved, fill out this form and the Caring Ministry will be in touch. Feel free to reach out to caring@philauu.org with any questions.

Simply Lunch Together (SLT)

Introducing Simply Lunch Together or SLT, a monthly drop-in, weekday lunch event for conversation and sharing community. The meeting will be on September 22, Thursday at 1pm, on the grassy area to the right side of Dilworth Plaza Park, on the west side of City Hall (the side closest to the clothespin statue across the street.)  Find a table or bring a blanket to sit upon. Bring your own lunch or purchase from vendors on site or nearby. In case of bad weather or other unexpected events, contact September’s host, Katherine Huseman, or the church office.
Come join us! It’s a multi-generational community building event. All are welcome!

OWL Registration Live
If you have a teen in grades 7-9 who deserves the best in sexuality education, sign them up now for Our Whole Lives. This highly regarded curriculum is fact based, affirming, and empowering for young people to make educated and informed decisions about their lives and their bodies. Led by our team of trained facilitators, Lisa Schilansky and Anni Tacchino, OWL will run on Sunday evenings at the church from 5-7PM beginning October 16th. There is a mandatory parent orientation to review the materials, values, and creating a safe and supportive learning environment on October 9th.  Sign up here.

Porch Sale Approaches (Saturday, October 8)
Contact: Luana Goodwin (luanagoodwin@gmail.com)
We encourage congregants to contribute quality (lightly used) items (houseware, electronics, books, clothing, etc) and to lend a hand. Volunteers will be needed on Friday to sort and price items and on Saturday to set up and sell.

Collection of items for sale will begin on Sunday, October 2, however, storage capacity at the church is limited and other events are scheduled so we ask that all who can bring items later in the week do that.
Contact Luana if you have questions or can help out. All proceeds will, of course, go to the church. Working together brings us together!
